Cause for Real Celebration

One of the many blessings of working with Namikango is seeing strong partnerships formed with the surrounding communities. One very good partnership is with “Millennium Villages” and their support of the “Malawi District Health office workers.” The aim of this joint effort is to prevent young children from getting AIDS through their parents.

We celebrated the graduation of 50 children from this program that is aimed at training and empowering parents, who have been AIDS infected, to learn how to care for their children in a way that keeps the children from contracting this dreadful disease from the parents. The program is followed up with a special graduation which included the successful testing of children at 6 weeks, 6 months, 12 months and 24 months.

The probability of children to contract the disease after 24 months is extremely low.

With the support of Namikango’s Maternity Clinic, this program ensured that 40 children under Namikango’s care and 10 children from neighboring clinics completed the program successfully. This is praiseworthy and cause for real celebration.

This is a small part of how God is able to work through men and women to care for the families of those who have contracted the disease. We are deeply grateful to support and empower these families in every way possible.
