A Solid Foundation

"See, I am doing a new thing…"

Here we are, sitting in the middle of something really really big, amazed to even have a part in it; even more, amazed to be a part of legacy that so many before us have laid the foundation for. For there to be two Hayes families here once again, as there was at the very beginning of the work seems to us, more than just ironic. But even aside from the work done by the missionaries here in Malawi, how this coincides with where the work is stateside is also amazing. The partnership that many of you have had with the Mission for many years is a solid foundation of prayer and financial support that is now growing even as the Mission changes here. All of us have the opportunity to benefit from the strong foundation that has been laid.

It seems God is not just letting us rest on all that happened before us, though, as he is the one opening these new doors, with new transitions, leaving some things behind, building on much that already exists, and preparing for new territory all together. So this means we are also, all of us, invited and privileged to get to be a part of this next part of Namikango’s history as well. I’m reminded of the time when my family made the huge transition from Kenya back to the States in 1999, during which I remember my dad often referencing Isaiah 43:18-19. “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” Those are powerful words as we continue to move with God. He is always working and perhaps one of our main tasks is to make sure we are with Him. This is a call to keep us from complacency in what we have already done, and to be attentive to what God is doing among us now. May He continue to lead all of us and may we be present to His leading.
