Staff Retreat 2016

Jan 6, 2017

Each year we try and do something with our staff off campus to get away and relax. This year we had the largest staff retreat ever at the beautiful Lake Malawi. 29 of us made the trip, including spouses of staff. We had two days of spiritual encouragement, fun, relaxation, and fellowship. Chester Kabinda, a well-respected church Elder and businessman from Blantrye, Malawi, was our guest speaker; he encouraged us from Scripture to be humble and serve each other and look towards the future as we work together.

When we weren’t in a study session, the men enjoyed challenging the locals in beach football (soccer) and the women in beach handball. A boat-ride out to a nearby island was also on the menu. This was a first for many – first time to visit Lake Malawi and first time to ride on a boat of any kind. The first time out into deep water on a small boat can be very un-nerving, but everyone survived and had a great time. All in all, the location was great, the encouragement was great, and most importantly, it was a much-needed teambuilding experience outside of our regular work.
