Coffee and Macadamia

Feb 8, 2017

In our effort to help Namikango become somewhat self-sustainable, we have acquired Macadamia trees for the 2.5acres that has recently been cleared at the Mission. These have now been planted and we hope to have planted Coffee plants by the end of February.

The rains have been good so far this year and we are praying that they continue.

We planted Soya (soy) and Maize in between the Coffee and Macadamia trees as well, and they are all doing extremely well. We expect an immediate result in terms of income generated from this project. We’ll have to wait a few years for the long-term benefits of growing coffee and macadamia.

Through these efforts we demonstrated the message we have been sharing with people about finding ways of being self-supporting.
