January 7, 2008:
Yesterday I joined Rodrick Maluwa and a group of other workers on a trip to Chisi Island, which lies a little over two miles offshore in Lake Chirwa. There's a small church over there that I've written about before. Jim Albright, Lendal, and B. have all made this trip several times.
Going over was fine, but when we returned in the afternoon a sudden wind brought storms in from the south and the waves were up. Our 15' boat gaves us quite a ride as we made our way up and down through the waves. It was great fun until the engine quit halfway across and the driver suspected at first we had run out of gas. But after a few minutes, he got it going again and we reached the mainland safely again.
